a penny for your thoughts...

could you live off of $10 million dollars for the rest of your life?

this question came up during lunch...we were discussing some high school basketball player's aspirations to go straight to the pros (if he doesn't, he'd play for uga) and how much he'd make his first year. leah said that it would be stupid to go straight to pro because if he some how permanently injures himself, he wouldn't have a degree and couldn't get a job. nice point. but if he had a contract, it would prolly be worth at least $10 million...getting injured in the first season would at least guarantee him that much. i think i could make it by quite well with $10 million in my whole lifetime. stick it in a bank account, let it do the work for you...accumulating at least $50,000 a year...ya, seems like a plan.

honestly, that much money is pretty much incomprehensible to me. i can't see how living my life could ever require me to spend that much money. sure, those who have that much could carelessly use 100 dollar bills as napkins to wipe the bbq sauce off their fingers (although that would be pretty gross...considering how dirty money is). they dump it on every kind of overpriced crap imaginable. heck, i would prolly go no higher than the normal priced clothes in kohls. maybe i wouldn't. who knows. anyway, leah and andrew argued otherwise. i can see their point...rich people live like rich people.

anyway, the question that baffles me the most today (well, besides leah wondering what an english channel was) is how much does it really cost for someone to live their whole lifetime? would $10 million actually cover it? a penny for your thoughts...

pre-journalism...having to do with newspapers, magazines, etc. i'm more interested in the layout/design/photo aspect of it.
