my night out in vegas

our dining hall people are crazy. honestly, i don't know what to think of their obsessiveness with theme nights. its pretty spiffy cuz they like go all out for these random special nights...but then again, its kinda silly cuz they go all out for these random special nights. okay, if you've ever been on a college meal plan, did/does your food services put on nights such as "foods of the east," "5 star dinner," "tailgating cookout," "a taste of home," "nascar night" (what in the world?? you've gotta know you're in the south for that one), "valentines day banquet," and "vegas night"? didn't think so. let me try to explain this phenomenon. here at uga, they make all these special recipies and decorate like mad all the dining halls on campus in these themes. tonight was vegas night...complete with fountains spewing orange punch, poker tables (where people played), slot machines (okay, they were only posters), ocean's 11 playing, disgusting ice cream with some kind of alcohol in it, live frankie and elvis entertainment, giant balloons in the shape of cards and die, and colorful lights flashing everywhere. thats what i mean by all out. where do they get the money for this? my parent's pocket. so, thanks mom and dad for the night out to vegas. it was fabulous.

changing gears, its finally decided...becca and i are working at cbs this summer. no, not the tv network. its a christian camp in the hills of texas, right on a lake! total, we got four out of five offers from the camps we applied to...we have yet to hear from one at all. kinda obnoxious of them. anyway, whats important is that we finally committed and know what we'll be doing this summer.

our job as counselors pretty much consists of hanging out with kids (about middle school age), leading devotionals with the girls in our cabin, going to the big group meetings, working on the lake as waterski instuctors, and competing with the campers in team competitions! i am uber excited about this summer...i don't know what could be better than getting paid to have an incredible summer and play all day! it will be an awesome time to get to share my faith with young kids and grow as well. plus, i'll get more experience sharing the gospel! we still have to let all the other camps know that we won't be working for them...which kinda makes me sad. i feel bad turning people down...especially because they're all assuming that i'm going to work for them and we've gotten to know them personally. tomorrow won't be too enjoyable in that aspect. my geology midterm is also included in that statement.
