hang up and pee

okay, kinda random title, i know. but i couldn't think of anything more appropriate for what i'm about to say.

its really amazing how much we're tied to our cell phones these days. i mean, we'll be having a great conversation over dinner with some friends, but as soon as the chimes go off and the cell phone starts buzzing its way across the table, we immediately drop our conversation to pick it up. this happens all the time...and i myself am most guilty of all.

i am, however, not guilty of talking on the phone while going to the bathroom. i want to start a new national campaign, that splinters off the "hang up and drive" slogan. i can't make an honest guess of how many times i've been in a bathroom when some girl walks in chatting on her cell phone and continues her conversation as she enters the stall, flushes, and leaves. come on now. is the conversation really that engaging that you can't say the simple, "hey, can i call you back in a minute?" its great that you're all open about yourself and all, but please, for the sake of those on the other line (or those appalled in the bathroom), spare them from your private business. i mean, i'm sure they'll prolly feel awkward after they hear a loud flush...that kinda gives it away.

i want to give out a giant "thank you!" to all of my friends who have been courteous enough to hang up and pee. it is greatly appreciated.
